Longtime radio host passes away after battle with cancer

JACKSON, miss. (WLBT) – Longtime radio host JT Williamson has died after battling cancer. according to an announcement on the SuperTalk Mississippi website.

Williamson, a native of Jackson, hosted the JT and Dave Show and later the JT Show, a statewide midday talk show that focused on state, local, and national politics, the announcement said.

He was also the radio voice for several high school football teams, including the Madison-Ridgeland Academy and Madison Central, the announcement said.

Williamson, who was diagnosed with lymphoma, was also an advocate of medical marijuana. He spoke to WLBT last year about his thoughts on medical marijuana.

He leaves behind his wife, Janet, and their two children.

The funeral provision is still being completed.

He was 52.
