Medical Marijuana cards, when the state could start seeing them
1 min readThe first medical marijuana cards could be issued in Alabama in about a year.
Senator Tim Melson from Florence endorsed the medical marijuana law. Melson was one of several lawmakers who spoke on the Limestone County’s Chamber of Commerce law review.
He says medicinal cannabis is used as a last resort when other drugs fail to help a person suffering from an illness.
“This is not the first choice, as we say, this is not the first tool in the toolbox,” said Melson. “You have to go and document, and any doctors who recommend it have to undergo training, education and be licensed to dispense.”
Melson’s bill establishes the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission. This commission would have 14 members who are appointed.
