During a meeting on Tuesday evening, council members unanimously approved an ordinance establishing facilities for medicinal cannabis; However, conversation among council members created some confusion about the state code.
“I just want to make sure people are watching because they hear a lot of comments about different things, kids and this and that and the other. We don’t vote on that, ”said Councilor Lee Vogler.
“This is new to the community and I think the more conversations we have the better,” said Mayor Alonzo Jones.
Medical pharmacies must be licensed by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy and can only dispense it to patients who have been prescribed medicinal cannabis by a doctor.
In the coming months, Danville plans further talks about launching leisure sales in 2024.
