Richter sees sanctions against pro-Trump attorneys who alleged election fraud

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A U.S. judge on Monday appeared likely to reprimand Sidney Powell, a former Donald Trump campaign attorney, and other lawyers over a lawsuit they filed in Michigan to overturn Democratic President Joe Biden’s election victory. Detroit District Judge Linda Parker suggested that pro-Trump attorneys should have investigated the former Republican president’s election fraud allegations more carefully before filing a lawsuit. Parker held the hearing to decide whether to penalize Powell, Lin Wood and other pro-Trump attorneys for a lawsuit they filed last November that contained unsubstantiated allegations of widespread voter fraud in the US presidential election Michigan set up.
