New Lawsuit Seeks To Halt New Medical Marijuana System

1 min read

The State Health Department and Medical Marijuana Authority are named in new lawsuit filed by a Tulsa law firm to prevent the state from implementing the new Metrc system.

The system would track marijuana plants from start to finish, from seed to sale.

The state says business owners are not allowed to sell marijuana to Oklahomans unless Metrc is tracking them. However, according to the lawsuit, more than 10,000 licensed cannabis companies are concerned about the monopoly this system would create.

They say the Metrc program would raise more than $ 12 million in its first year of use.

OK4U Approved, a program designed to educate and ensure the quality of medical marijuana, says that has always been the plan since medical marijuana was legalized to help move the industry forward.

“No marijuana can move within this Metrc system without being tested. It will improve our game, our industry professionalism and current developments,” said Chip Paul, Executive Director of OK4U Approved.

The deadline for converting the company to the Metrc system is April 30th.
