Both bodies are considering the second reading of medical pot regulation ordinances that will become legal July 1st in South Dakota.
Ordinance of the city would effectively stop marijuana sales in the city until the state passes its own regulations. The state has until October 29 to enact regulations.
South Dakota voters overwhelmingly passed the law allowing medical marijuana in November, and state lawmakers disagreed on possible changes. Local governments across the state are stepping in to make their own regulations as Pierre lacks clear guidelines.
