The Day – Westerly medical marijuana site granted revised permit
1 min readWESTERLY (AP) – Westerly’s Zoning Board has approved changes to the terms of a permit issued to a medical marijuana grow facility in the city that was accused of violating its original permit.
The changes approved by the Zoning Board of Review became necessary when South County Cultivators Inc. issued a Violation Notice and Cease-and-Desist Order last year alleging that it had commenced operations without the terms of its original planning and control To fulfill zoning permit, The Westerly Sun reported Thursday.
This included failure to erect a security fence, failure to follow the parking scheme of the original plan, and installation of a surveillance camera in the approved location.
In accordance with state law, the company appealed the violation and continued operations.
Elizabeth Noonan, attorney for South County Cultivators Inc., said the company was working to address the city’s concerns.
As a condition of approval, the company will appear before the Zoning Board of Review in September to review its plan and compliance.
